Tips for protecting your outdoor furniture from sun damage this summer.

American writer, Annie Dillard wrote "There is a muscular energy in sunlight corresponding to the spiritual energy of wind." A pragmatic statement, the power existing in nature is one filled with insurmountable forces of boundless wonder. On a daily bases, we vigorously fight to limit its damaging efforts upon the possessions in and outside our homes. The intensity of the sun and the fury of the wind are fierce competitors against our rich fabrics, lush leathers, and exotic woods. To win the battle we must first learn the rules of engagement. 1. It's the sun and wind. Ultimately we can never win. 2. The best offense is a good defence. For those furnishings in direct sunlight use light colors; with rugs, routinely rotate them so that any fading will be uniform; and for wood, treat it with polyurethane, varnish, paint, or veneer to prevent decay. 3. Protect to prevent. Scotchgard your fabrics, condition your leathers, and be advised that a stainless steel of 316 grade is rust and corrosion resistant. 4. Duck and cover. Drapes, sheers, and blinds should be used as barriers to diminish the sun's rays from fading or altering colors. Although white doesn't necessary fade it does yellow. T The art of war is being prepared. For knowledge is power.

  1. I can easily notice this from outdoor furniture. They easily fade, worse is that it is not fair. Some sides are faded, some are not. I really love to read articles on how to take care of furniture. It is kind of useful for a person, like me.

I wrote an article about Six Secrets to Remove Ugly Water Rings on Your Wooden Furniture.

What can you say about it?
